Your favourite colour. Your name. A font that feels like you. Laser engraving brings these details together to turn an everyday thermal flask into a personal companion or a thoughtful gift.
The quick explanation
On PurePop’s coloured flasks, a focused laser removes the surface finish along your chosen design, revealing the silver-toned stainless steel beneath. The lettering becomes part of the surface, with no sticker or printed ink layer.
How does laser engraving work?
It starts with a digital design: your text, set in your selected font. The lettering gives the laser a precise path to follow. A focused beam delivers energy to small areas of the surface, creating the mark one part of the design at a time.
For a personalised PurePop flask, this means revealing the natural metal colour through the coloured finish. The result is a permanent personal detail with a clear contrast against the flask. PurePop uses fibre and diode laser technology in-house in Ballito, as described on the personalisation page.

What is the difference between fibre and diode lasers?
Both use focused light to create a design. The difference lies in how they produce that light and how the beam interacts with the material. Here is the useful distinction for metal drinkware.
Fibre laser
A fibre laser amplifies light inside a specially designed optical fibre. Fibre engravers used for metal commonly operate at an infrared wavelength of around 1064 nm.
Why it suits metal: this wavelength is well suited to working directly with metal, making fibre lasers a useful tool for precise metal marking and engraving.
Diode laser
A diode laser produces light using a semiconductor. Many blue diode engravers operate at a visible wavelength of around 455 nm.
Why it suits coated surfaces: on suitable coloured or coated metal, a diode laser can remove the finish to create a contrasting design.
The equipment and settings are chosen to suit the flask’s surface and the design. For your order, the creative choices are the text, font and size; PurePop handles the engraving process.
For the technology behind these differences, IPG explains how fibre lasers work, while xTool’s material processing guide explains laser wavelengths and their interaction with materials.
Choose your engraving font
The product-page engraving menu currently offers these 14 fonts. Each sample below uses the same name so you can compare the lettering itself.
Pacifico
Cookie
DMsans
Satisfy
Shrikhand
Fascinate
Fredoka
Indie Flower
Lobster
Marhey
Montserrat
Luckiest Guy
Nanum Pen Script
Playfair
These are the font options shown in the engraving selector. The samples compare typefaces; use the product-page preview to review your own text, size and placement.
Make the font feel like you
Try Montserrat or DMsans for a clean, everyday look; Pacifico or Satisfy for flowing lettering; and Fredoka or Luckiest Guy for a playful statement. Compare two or three using your exact name. Pay attention to how your first letter and capitals look.
How to add engraving to your PurePop flask
Here is a step-by-step guide to the “Add name engraving” panel, using the Core Series product page.
-
1
Choose your flask and colour
Start with the shape and size that suit your day. On a product such as the Ocean Blue Core Series, select your colour before opening the engraving options.
-
2
Open the engraving panel
Select “Add name engraving (+ R89)” on the product page. The panel lets you enter text and see how it looks on the flask.
-
3
Enter your name or message
The text field allows up to 24 characters, including spaces. Try a first name, initials, nickname or short phrase. Type the capital letters exactly as you want them.
-
4
Choose your font and size
Open the Font menu and compare your favourites. Use the −, AAA and + controls to compare smaller, normal and bigger lettering in the preview.
-
5
Review your design
Check spelling, capitals, spacing and the preview. The personal name engraving is placed vertically on the reverse side, opposite the logo, as explained in the engraving panel.
-
6
Add your personalised flask to your order
Review the personalisation details and terms in the panel, then add the flask with your chosen engraving to your cart. PurePop completes the engraving in-house in Ballito.
What should you put on your flask?
A first name is easy to recognise on a desk or in a shared kitchen. Initials keep the design simple. A nickname adds personality, while a short message can become a small daily reminder.
Thando
A name they love
TK
Simple initials
Sunshine
A favourite nickname
Make today count
A daily reminder
For a gift, choose the flask for the person’s routine first, then add the personal touch. Think about how to choose a personalised flask gift around the recipient’s day. A coffee lover might enjoy a flask from the Sip Series, while someone who carries water throughout the day may prefer a larger bottle.
Can you engrave a company logo?
Yes. Logo engraving is available through PurePop’s corporate orders, starting at 30 units per collection. A logo can bring a personal touch to team gifts, client gifts or an event. The logo options are arranged through the corporate enquiry process.
One final look before you order
Your favourite flask and colour. The right spelling. A font you love. A size that reads clearly in the preview. Once these details feel right, your design is ready to become a flask that feels unmistakably yours.
